John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle, directors of “No Escape” and “As Above/So Below”, will be back at the helm of action-thriller heist pic “The Gafin Academy”.
Produced by Image Movers and Voltage Films, the Aaron Rapke and Stewart Kaye-written film is based on Danny King’s novel ‘School for Schumbags’, released in 2008.
Per Deadline, who has the exclusive, “The book centers on Banners, a habitual teenage delinquent who, after being expelled from yet another school, finds himself hauled off to Gafin Academy, a reformative school that plays host to the worst of thieves, bullies, arsonists and vandals. However, rather than rehabilitating the students, the Gafin Academy utilizes their unique skill sets to pull off a massive heist.”
Blockbuster king Robert Zemeckis (“Back to the Future”, “Castaway”) will executive producer the picture.
