Downton Abbey movie to be made

Fans of “Downton Abbey” who are still shedding tears about its end two years ago, grab a tissue! There’s good news afoot. According to AP, a movie is in the works to begin production in 2018.

The president at NBCUniversal International Studios, Michael Edelstein, confirmed at the Downton Abbey exhibition in Singapore that a movie had been “in the works for some time”. He stated “we are working on getting the script right and then we’ve got to figure out how to get the (cast) together. Because as you know, people go on and do other things. But we’re hopeful to make a movie sometime next year”.

Obviously it’s in the very early stages of development, with cast members in attendance at the exhibition not being aware of said movie, but at the same time expressing that they’d definitely like to be a part of the production.

While the movie is likely a couple of years off, the news is sure to bring a smile to the faces of “Downton Abbey” fans. If you’re interested in “Downton Abbey: The Exhibition” to see never-before-seen footage, costumes and locations from the show, keep an eye out as it’s due to travel to the US and Australia following its Singapore stint.
