Ed Helms to play Rusty Griswold in Vacation reboot

Previously rumoured for the job, but upon being asked revealed he knew nothing about it (they never do!), Ed Helms looks to have snagged the role of grown-up Rusty Griswold in New Line’s reboot of the “Vacation” film franchise.

The star of TV’s “The Office” and hit comedy “The Hangover” would play the role played by Anthony Michael Hall in the 1984 original.

The Hollywood Reporter said :

Helms will play Rusty Griswold, the kid from the original films, who in the new movie will be all grown up and embarking on a vacation with his own family.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are directing the project, which plays like both a sequel and a reboot of the Chevy Chase franchise that began with the 1983 Harold Ramis-directed comedy National Lampoon’s Vacation.

The new project will start lensing in the spring after Helms wraps The Office.

Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo will be approached to reprise their roles of Clark and Ellen Griswold in the film.
