Eddie Izzard carrying on with Carrie

Eddie Izzard (“Hannibal”) will star opposite Hailee Steinfeld in “Carrie Philby”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on the coming-of-age novel by Caren Lissner, the film centers on a 19-year-old genius (Steinfeld) who has just graduated from Harvard and has no idea how to fit in or socialize in life outside college. And it seems that anticipation for the film adaptation is growing: The book, published by Harlequin, sold out on Amazon within hours of the announcement of the film two weeks ago.

Izzard will play the role of Dr. Petrov, the therapist who helps Carrie sort out her conflicted but comedic view of the world.

Susan Johnson directs the indie.
