Egan washes off the Soap for Eragon

Summer Bay’s starting to produce some talented little puppies it seems. Hot on the heels of Isla Fisher, another ex-"Home and Away" star that’s making a splash in Hollywood, comes news that her former co-star Chris Egan has been snapped up by the town of tinsel.

Egan, who has just completed a role in "Decameron : Angels and Virgins" opposite Hayden Christensen and Mischa Barton, has signed a three-picture deal with Twentieth Century Fox, says The Herald Sun.

He’s put pen to paper to sign onto the "Eragon" trilogy, from writer Christopher Paolini, starring opposite John Malkovich.

"It is like Lord of the Rings but it is about dragons," said Egan, who played Nick Smith on "Home and Away".

Production on Eragon will begin in Budapest, Hungary, next month.

Egan left "Home and Away" in 2003 and virtually went straight to Hollywood where he bunked in with fellow Australian actor Justin Melvey for six months.

Alf’s apparently in talks to take over for Jackie Chan in the next "Rush Hour" too.
