Emile Hirsh as John Belushi? Hmmm..Okay, that could work!

Steve Conrad’s John Belushi biopic seems to be inching closer to the starting line.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Emile Hirsch (“Into the Wild”) and Adam Devine (“Workaholics”) have met for the role of the late Blues Brother, while producers are also said to be quite keen on having a chat to Joaquin Phoenix (that might be a hard thing to pull off).

The flick also needs a Dan Aykroyd – Belushi’s best friend and “Blues Brothers” co-star – and Nelson Franklin from “New Girl” is said to be an early favourite to play the lanky funnyman.

Though “Hangover” director Todd Phillips was originally set to helm, “Walter Mitty” writer Steve Conrad will now be both writing and directing.

This won’t be the first time Belushi’s story has been told on screen – in 1989, Michael Chiklis played the late, great comic superstar in the rather terrible “Wired”.
