Evan Rachel Wood talks True Blood

Moviehole caught up with the lovely Evan Rachel Wood (“Across the Universe”. “Whatever Works”) this week, and the lovely young lass was kind enough to give us an update on her upcoming projects – including the on-again off-again on-again off-again Jodie Foster vehicle “Flora Plum”.

”We got so close to making that movie”, Wood says of the drama, at one time set to star Russell Crowe. “I hope it happens. I mean, poor Jodie has been trying so long to get that thing going. And I don’t understand why it can’t get made. We missed our cut-off, actually. We were all ready, we had our financing. But where we were filming in Louisiana, there’s only a small window of opportunity before hurricane season. And all the leading men that we wanted were already booked, and she didn’t want to compromise. So we had to hold it, again. I was so sad.”

Meantime, Wood is sharpening her fangs to play a ‘Queen’ vampire on the HBO hit “True Blood”.

Says the actress, “I have been waiting to play a vampire for so long. And I just got fitted for my fangs, and I was so excited. I have been waiting since I was five years old to get my fangs. But, yeah. I’m playing Sophie Ann. She’s 400 years old, and she’s the Vampire Queen of Louisiana. So, not too bad. Not too shabby.”

Wood, who says she gets to sink her teeth into “a lovely lady” on the series, says “it’s just going to be a character that’s going to pop up every now and then. So, I don’t know. Right now, it’s just two episodes. But you never know.”

Also on the horizon is the much-talked about “Spider-man” musical, in which Wood has been cast to play crimson-haired beauty Mary Jane-Watson.

“It’s gotten pushed. But rehearsals should be starting in October. So, I think it’ll hopefully hit Broadway by February”, says the actress, adding that they still haven’t cast their Peter Parker. “You know, I’m still trying to drag Jim Sturgess. But – if he doesn’t do it, I’m not sure. We actually did the workshop together. So, I have sang the Peter Parker-Mary Jane songs with him, and I just can’t imagine anybody else doing it. So, I’ll be sad. But I have a lot of faith in Julie, and I’m sure she’ll find somebody amazing.”
