Things happen for a reason, they say. One door opens, another closes; one beau splits, another enters; one house burns, termites buried below it shriek in agony.
In the long run, it sounds like Aussie comic Peter Helliar’s going to appreciate having Sunday’s off….
The [former] ROVE regular (The Sunday night variety series recently recorded its last episode) is carving out a promising new career for himself as a screenwriter.
The funnyman, whose new film “I Love You Too†is garnering great buzz (terrific script too, think this will be the next great Aussie comedy – might even make some coin, too!), tells us he’s already got movie number two in the works.
Helliar’s Samsung is fresh from printing out a new Final Draft effort, “Mr Buzzby Married a Lesbianâ€, a “comedy about a lonely geographer teacher looking for loveâ€.
The terrific troops at Princess Pictures (“Summer Heights Highâ€, “John Safron’s Race Relationsâ€, “I Love You Tooâ€) – hi to the wonderful Yael Bergman and the multi-skilled Laura Waters! – will again be spearheading the production.
Helliar says they’ll start targeting lead actors early next year.
My set report from “I Love You Tooâ€, written by, co-produced, and co-starring Helliar, will be up in a couple of months’ time. But I can tell you, from what I’ve seen, it’s going to be a terrific little pic. Will be worth seeing for the crackerbag cast alone.
