Fantastic Four pulled – no, the one with Jessica Alba

Curiously, Fox has yanked the last two “Fantastic Four” films – the Tim Story-directed films, “Fantastic Four” and “Fantastic Four : Rise of the Silver Surfer” – from streaming platforms. Fox tells THR that the movies have been pulled so the new “Fantastic Four” reboot, due in cinemas in August, can not only have it’s chance to shine but not be confused with these earlier efforts. As the trailers project, this one’s a rather different beast than the earlier two, which were somewhat comic book campy.

Speaking to the trade, a studio rep says Tim Story’s two films are no longer available on such platforms as iTunes and Amazon Instant Video so “not to distract from promotion of the rebooted franchise which is seeking to establish a different tone than the previous releases”.

The films are expected to return to the streaming platforms once the new “Fantastic Four” leaves theaters.
