Fast & Furious 8 experiencing troubles!?

“Fast & Furious 8” will happen – just as soon as they find a director.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, despite having an April 2017 release date set, screenwriter Chris Morgan is still working on the script and Universal Pictures haven’t found a director.

The trade says “Fast & Furious 7” helmer Justin Wan was offered a considerable amount of money to direct the installment but the stress of directing the previous film – stemming from the passing of Paul Walker midway through – led to Wan turning the offer down.

Slowing the process, says the outlet, are the exit of series overseeer and studio studio co-president of production Jeffrey Kirschenbaum, as well as star and producer Vin Diesel’s difficulty – he apparently questions any small detail on lavish action sequences and demands late-night script sessions to make him more comfortable with his character.

While it would seem the best case scenario is for Diesel to direct “Furious 8” himself, he apparently isn’t interested in wearing another hat on the movie.

The new film, which is said to have Diesel, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham and Eva Mendes involved, is rumoured to be set in New York.
