Caffeinated Clint
I saw “Curse of Chucky” about a week ago. It’s good. It’s like an installment of a franchise that’s had its fridge cleaned out, and scrubbed from top to bottom. All that junk in there, all the old stuff at the back, and the grime that’s hanging off the sliding bits on the side have been removed, and in it’s place, just the bare necessities – the bits the ‘Child’s Play’ started with. In this case, a ‘Chucky’ doll. An effective music score. A scary tape of Brad Dourif recordings. A bucket of corn syrup. A tin of murky brown paint to coat the sets in. And no fucking silhouette of dolls having sex. Open the fridge, you’ll like what you see.
Sadly, there’s no clip yet featuring the film’s wheelchair-bound heroine, played marvellously by newcomer (and daughter of Chuck) Fiona Dourif, but here’s what we do have :

The film stars Fiona Dourif (The Master, “True Blood”), A Martinez (“Longmire,” “General Hospital”), Danielle Bisutti (Get Smart, “CSI: Miami”) and Brennan Elliott (“Flight 93,” Double Jeopardy), with Brad Dourif (The Lord of the Rings) once again providing the voice of Chucky, the homicidal plaything inhabited by the spirit of notorious serial killer Charles Lee Ray.
