First Look at Battlestar Galactica : Blood and Chrome

“Caprica”, while well-performed and likely better written than seventy percent of the shows out there, didn’t work for the masses… of “Battlestar Galactica” fans. What happened there was that we wanted a show like “Battlestar Galactica”, what with it’s aerial dogfights and human-on-cylon sex skirmishes, and got, er, “Dallas in Space”.It was good, don’t get me wrong, but it just wasn’t what grieving fans of the recently canned “Galactica” needed at the time.

So anyway, that’s gone and in it’s place – come 2011 – will be “Battlestar Galactica : Blood and Chrome”, which, like “Caprica”, is a prequel to “Galactica”, but this one’s deemed not so much a soap opera as it is an action series. It’s set during the first cylon wars – so it’ll be much more in tune with the original series. William Adama (who has now featured in every “Galactica” series, albeit played by different actors) will be the main character. I’m thinking the show might play for fans of J.J Abrams’ “Star Trek” since it’ll be about a cocky fresh-out-of-the-academy (not unlike Kirk) solider going into deep space, and consequently, battle for the first time.
