The first look at the new “Scream” mask has debuted.
The mask will be used in MTV’s upcoming TV adaptation of the horror franchise which is set to debut on June 30 at 10pm.
Check out the mask below, which certainly digresses from the classic ‘Ghostface’ mask, despite some resemblance.
“The [original] mask is so iconic,” the show’s exec producer Jaime Paglia told EW. “If you were to have that mask in a television series, but you weren’t following any of the characters [from the original], I believe that would be misleading the audience.”
“It evokes some of the Jason hockey mask and the white Michael Myers mask,” added exec producer Jill Blotevogel.“But it’s still first and foremost evocative of the Scream mask. It’s sort of a reinvention while also paying homage.”
The TV series stars Bex Taylor-Klaus, Willa Fitzgerald, John Karna, Connor Weil and Amadeus Serafini with Bella Thorne apparently involved in a recreation of the original film’s cassic opening sequence.
