First look at new Power Rangers!

EW has debuted our first look at the new “Power Rangers” suits (see the image above).

“The show was about kids coming of age, about metamorphosis,” director Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) told EW. “These suits needed to feel like they were catalyzed by these kids and their energy, their spirit.”

“It’s tricky finding a new language for a superhero costume,” production designer Andrew Menzies (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) said. “Ours is an alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made. You can’t win everyone over, but we are trying to appeal to a more mature audience and gain new fans.”

RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott and Dacre Montgomery star as the titular Power Rangers in the film from director Dean Israelite.

Elizabeth Banks is also on board as the villainous alien witch Rita Repulsa.

Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama penned the script. Producers are Saban Brands’ Haim Saban and Brian Casentini, with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. Allison Shearmur will exec produce.
