First Looks : Benjamin as Jimi Hendrix; DeHaan as Jimmy Dean

A couple of first looks at some true tales today, and the men giving life to the non-fiction characters within them.

Firstly, a clip from the Jimi Hendrix biopic “All is By My Side” has been released. Andre Benjamin plays the legendary guitarist in a movie written and by Oscar Winner John Ridley (“12 Years A Slave”). This one opens across the pond in the UK in August.

Secondly, Dane DeHaan (aka Harry Osborn from the upcoming “Amazing Spider-Man 2″) plays Hollywood icon James Dean in Anton Corbijn’s (”The American”) upcoming drama ”Life”.

The movie, now shooting in Canada, also stars Robert Pattinson as photographer Dennis Stock and Ben ‘not the Mandarin’ Kingsley.

The director tells EW, “When I see Rob I see an inner turmoil that is great for the role. And Dane is really interesting. He has a beautiful face, but it’s a hard face to grasp. It’s hard to see how Dane reads [on screen] sometimes, and the same goes for James Dean.”
