El Rey Network, Robert Rodriguez’s new genre-busting cable network, is excited to announce the World Premiere of the highly-anticipated ”From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” at the 28th annual South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Following its World Premiere screening at SXSW, the series will debut on El Rey Network on Tuesday, March 11 at 9 PM ET/PT. The series, created and executive produced by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, El Rey Network Founder and Chairman, is based on the cult classic film of the same name. Rodriguez directed the premiere episode which will be screened at the festival.

“As an Austinite and longtime fan of the festival, I could not be more excited to debut the premiere episode of From Dusk Till Dawn : The Series at SXSW this year,” Rodriguez said. “I’m honored that the series has been selected and that we will have the chance to not only debut this action-packed TV show but also present the voice of the El Rey Network.”

”From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” is a 10-episode supernatural crime saga which debuts March 11 at 9 pm ET/PT on El Rey Network. The cast includes D.J Cotrona, Jesse Garcia, Eiza González, Wilmer Valderrama, Adrianna Palicki, Jake Busey and Don Johnson. Emmy-Winning Special Effects wizard Greg Nicotero (”The Walking Dead”) oversees make-up effects for the series. Rodriguez and cast members will be in attendance for the World Premiere at SXSW.

Based on the thrill-ride film, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series is a supernatural crime saga centered around bank robber, Seth Gecko (Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko (Holtz), who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw (Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Garcia) after a bank heist leaves several people dead. While on the run to Mexico, Seth and Richie encounter former pastor Jacob Fuller (Patrick) and his family, whom they take hostage. Using the family RV to cross the border, chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club that is populated by vampires. They are forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive. The series deepens the tone and expands the storyline of the film, adds new characters and backstories, and explores the Mesoamerican mythology behind the creatures inside the club.
