It was announced this week that “Krampus” writers Zach Shields and Michael Dougherty will be writing the sequel to Gareth Edward’s “Godzilla”.
Seems Edwards won’t be back in any capacity, with Screen Crush reporting that Dougherty (“Trick ‘R Treat”) also being considered to direct. The deal will be dependent upon the screenplay, says the site.
Edward’s original idea for “Godzilla 2” involved the titular character taking on the man-made weapon Mechagodizlla; no word if Shields and Dougherty’s story incorporated the idea.
“Godzilla 2” is in theaters March 2019.
