Goldsman replacing Fuller on Star Trek : Discovery

Bryan Fuller is out and Akiva Goldsman is on over on CBS’s new “Star Trek Discovery” series.

Fuller and CBS Television Studios had a falling out over the “Hannibal” alum’s schedule; Fuller busy juggling the final weeks of shooting and post-production duties on Starz’s “American Gods” while readying a new take on “Amazing Stories” for NBC. Obviously CBS got antsy.

The decision was made last week to hand-over “Discovery” to fellow executive producers Gretchen Berg, Aaron Harberts and Alex Kurtzman. Now Variety says Goldsman, who worked with Kurtzman on “Fringe”, is onboard to share the producing load.

The series, set to air on CBS All Access in the new year, is due to begin filming in Toronto next month. The lead, a female lieutenant, remains uncast.
