Good Green Hunting

The first of the “Super Max” casting rumours

I can see David Goyer pissing his pants from laughter…. But nevertheless, good rumours aren’t meant to lie dormant, right? And if it puts a smile on someone’s dial – or even gets the studio thinking about the guy in question – then ours job’s done.

Surely the over-active imagination of a virginal comic book buff, ComicBookMovie relays a rumour that Matt Damon – a guy who, lets face it, has been rumoured for every movie at one time or another – is up for the role of the jade suited ‘Green Arrow’ in Goyer’s upcoming “Super Max” movie.

Should Damon – also recently rumoured to be up for the role of another heroic icon, Captain Kirk, in J.J Abrams’ “Star Trek” prequel – sign up, he won’t be playing a superhero per say, but more so, a variation on old Oliver.

The film will resolve around a wrongly convicted Green Arrow being whisked away to a prison.

Its not the first time Damon has been rumoured for a superhero role – he was also tipped to be in the running to play The Sub Mariner a couple of years back (Considering ‘The Rock’ was also in the mix, apparently, for that role – I think its safe to say that’s bulldust … if only because the two guys are chalk and cheese). And like “Super Max”, the rumours surfaced before there was even a script… and needless to say, any talk of casting had taken place on an official level.

NB : Having said all that, I think Damon would be fantastic in the role. He’d give the character some real, well, character. Hopefully, there is something in this…
