Goodfella joins Badfella Tony Soprano in Cogan’s Trade

Despite superb performances in the likes of “Something Wild”, “Goodfellas” and “Narc”, Ray Liotta’s somehow ended up with a career that bunny-hops like a 1978 Commodore that hasn’t been serviced in a few years. Much like Val Kilmer, Liotta’s turned into somewhat of a ‘Yes Man’, agreeing to do anything and everything – so long as it’s cash not credit he’s remunerated with. In-between showy roles in flicks like “Hannibal”, “Narc” and “Smokin’ Aces”, Liotta tends to do a lot of work in the direct-to-DVD field – his latest being “Street Kings 2”.

Liotta’s ‘one for the box office, one for the Blockbuster’ way of working continues with the gifted actor signing on to play a role in David Chase’s film “Cogan’s Trade”. The film teams Liotta with James Gandolfini, Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck, Sam Rockwell and Mark Ruffalo; Andrew Domink directs.

Pitt’s Jackie Cogan is a professional enforcer who must investigate a heist that took place during a high-stakes poker game under protection of the mob. According to THR, Liotta will play Mark “Markie” Trattman, the unfortunate hustler who runs the game in a motel room and finds things only going downhill from there.

“Cogan’s Trade” begins shooting later this year for a release sometime early 2012.
