Grinch movie delayed to 2018

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” has been pushed back almost a year.

The animated adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic was originally planned for a November 10, 2017 release, but will now open on November 9, 2018.

Pete Candeland and Yarrow Cheney are directing the film from a screenplay by Michael LeSieur, with Benedict Cumberbatch on board to voice the titular Grinch.

Illumination’s Chris Meledandri, Janet Healy and Scott Mosier will produce with exec producers Audrey Geisel and Chris Renaud.

Universal Pictures has also set release dates for three new mystery “Event Films”. They will open on August 10, 2018, January 18, 2019 and April 10, 2020.
