French actress Pom Klementieff (“Oldboy”) will be playing Mantis in James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2”, according to Deadline.
Mantis, who made her debut in 1973’s “Avengers #112”, encompasses both strong martial arts skills and telepathic powers. In the comics she had her memory wiped and was sent to Earth – where she’d ultimately team up with The Avengers.
Meanwhile, Matthew McConaughey has reportedly turned down the role of a villain in the Marvel blockbuster. The Oscar Winning actor was reportedly up for the role of the film’s villain – who some have speculated might be Adam Warlock.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper return for the “Guardians” sequel, due May 5, 2017.
