Guy Pearce makes himself re-appear

Somewhat of a dissapearing act himself lately, Guy Pearce will play Harry Houdini in a new film from Gillian Armstrong.

"Death Defying Acts" will team Pearce and Rachel Weisz ["The Mummy"] as master magic-man Houdini and the woman he dove into the sack with whilst touring Scotland.

The film, set in 1926, will be penned by Tony Grisoni and Brian Ward, and starts shooting in 2006.

Pearce has been kicking back for a while – his only recent film being the cute but hardly victorious "Two Brothers" – but seems he’s ready to jump back into the fickle world of film again.

His next film, "The Proposition, is quite a good actually. Hitting the Multiplexes in September, it’s best described as Part ‘Rabbit Proof Fence’, Part ‘Young Guns’, but mostly the unique vision of proficient singer-songwriter turned screenwriter Nick Cave. It’s is a captivating western yarn filled with absorbing multi-faceted characters and an in-your-face splashing of action that’ll leave it’s mark even after the curtains have closed.

Though Pearce and co-star Emily Watson give fine performances in their own right, it’s really Ray Winstone who’ll be remembered here at the end of the day – giving a a memorable, stirring and highly authentic turn as a lawman that hides his full-scale empathy deep below the surface of the badge.

Aside from "Death Defying Acts", Pearce has also signed onto a couple of other equally interesting projects.

He’s playing Andy Warhol in "Factory Girl", and also a lock for "Dangerous Parking", about a British film director.
