Chris Hemsworth is tipped to be playing a new, big screen incarnation of classic pulp character Allan Quartermain.
According to The Tracking Board, Barnett Brettler (“20 Mississippi”) has penned a new spec script that would feature the Aussie actor as the well-known British big game hunter and marksman who spent most of his years in South Africa during the colonial era. Quartermain was said to be a chief inspiration for Indiana Jones.
Others that have played the adventurer over the years include the late Patrick Swayze and Richard Chamberlain, who portrayed Quartermain in two iconic Cannon Films in the ’80s.
CAA is trying to attach the “Thor” actor to the project, which Sony Pictures are reportedly considering taking on.
