There’s films that are hard to market… and then there are films that are hard to market.
Despite the pedigree, Adam McKay’s all-star financial-woes chronicle “The Big Short” likely has it’s work cut out for it in regards to capturing a huge commercial audience. Sure, it’s got Ryan Gosling, Steve Carrell, Christian Bale and Brad Pitt in it, but the story itself reads like a section from the ‘F’ pages of a dictionary. So, yes, it may indeed need a gimmick to get people into the theater.

The upcoming film, based on the 2010 book, is currently showing in the US with Australia getting it’s dose in January.
