Homeland actress is Ben-Hur‘s female lead

“Homeland” actress Nazanin Boniadi has won the highly-coveted role of Esther in the Timur Bekmambetov-directed remake of ”Ben-Hur” for MGM and Paramount Pictures, according to Deadline.

Boniadi, who plays CIA op Fara Sherazi on the Showtime series, replaces Gal Gadot who dropped her out over scheduling conflicts.

Sofia Boutella, soon to be seen in “Kingsman : The Secret Service”, was reportedly the runner-up.

Moran Atias (”The Next Three Days”) and Natalia Warner (“Learning to Breathe”) also did chemistry test reads with star Jack Huston.
