Inside Man sequel in the works

Spike Lee possibly returning to direct

I wouldn’t have thought it called for one (but how many films that do spawn one, do?), but even so “Inside Man” was such a ripe berry among the rotten pickings of last year that I’d be keen to see what they do with a sequel. Even better if they can entice Clive Owen to return.

According to Variety, Brian Grazer and Spike Lee are brainstorming over an “Insider Man II” at the moment – with the original’s writer, Russell Gewirtz, already committed to writing the pic.

The story is being kept under wraps at this stage, so its unsure whether the film will see return appearances from the characters played by Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster or Clive Owen.

The bank heist thriller became the biggest-grossing pic in Lee’s helming career, earning $184 million at the worldwide box office earlier this year.

It’s possible the sequel will be Lee’s next gig as director.
