Is Steven Spielberg considering another Jaws?

There’s been talk of another “Jaws” movie for years – and quite frankly, I’m surprised none of them have come to fruition. Steven Spielberg’s original film was, besides being a masterpiece, one of the most successful films of all time. And the three sequels that followed, though lacklustre movies, did reasonably OK business too.
There was something about Kevin Smith writing a fifth “Jaws” movie at one stage, though I think that was bullshit (he may have even debunked the news at one of his concerts), and then there was the suggestion that Universal were looking at making a direct-to-video sequel. None of those came off. Probably just as well… sounds like Spielberg’s considering a return to the waters.

In an interview with Aint it Cool, Spielberg mentioned the possibility of resurrecting ‘Bruce’ for another round.

Quint: Do you have any idea what you would have done with a sequel?

Steven Spielberg: No, no idea at all, but I have a very, very good scene which I thought would have been good for a sequel someday, which I will tell you someday because I don’t want it in print.

Quint: Okay.

Steven Spielberg: But I’ll tell you my scene some day. Every time I think of this scene I think, “Hmmm, could this be another Jaws movie?” and I have to immediately stop myself and immediately pull myself back down to Earth.

So it mightn’t ever come off, but wouldn’t a new Spielberg-led “Jaws” be great!?
