Actor fired from TV series “Grey’s Anatomy”
Straight out of the ‘I’m not surprised’ files comes news that controversial “Greys’ Anatomy” star Isaiah Washington has been dropped from the series.
It’s believed that ABC let Washington go because of the hubbub he stirred up when he let rip with those homophobic slurs about co-star T.R Knight. His character, Dr Preston Burke, walked out of the hospital in the recent season finale – and apparently he’s not welcome back.
While the first media report about Washington’s alleged use of the slur on the set of “Grey’s appeared in October, it was Washington’s repeat of the offensive remarks during a backstage press conference at the Golden Globes in January — while denying he’d said the slur earlier — that ignited the public outcry.
Washington has since apologized, sought counseling and signed up to do a public service announcement on behalf of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network.
