James Bond vs. Javier Bardem?

Oscar Winner Javier Bardem looks set to join the likes of Christopher Lee, Robert Davi, Sean Bean, Christopher Walken and Donald Pleasence by playing a villain in a Bond film.

Deadline‘s reporting that Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”, “Vicki Christina Barcelona”) has been offered a starring role in the new 007 film, which Sam Mendes is directing for a November 2012 release. It’s believed Bardem’s role would be the baddie. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench are reprising their roles as Bond and M, respectively.

Of course Bardem hasn’t accepted the role yet; he passed on playing the villain in Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street Money Never Sleeps” so there’s a chance he might also thumb his nose up at this.
