James Franco gives up directorial debut

James Franco has exited “Garden of Last Days”, the movie he planned to make his directorial debut with. The film was just two weeks away from kicking off production, says Deadline.

The production is said to have thrown away $500,000 of its $3 million dollar budget, according to the site, who add that the exit is being blamed on a disagreement over who Franco wanted to hire as crew.

” I’m hearing that Franco’s exit had to do with a disagreement with financier Millennium over the crew he wanted to hire. Basically, Franco put together a few that didn’t have the experience to get approval from the bond company. Millennium wouldn’t approve his choices.”

Franco had committed to star in and direct the film last April.
