James Wan directing Aquaman!

James Wan

The oyster that is James Wan’s world just keeps on giving.

Hot on the heels of that billion-dollar napsack of green “Furious 7” left tread marks on, Warner Bros has signed the Aussie filmmaker to helm their splashy-budgeted “Aquaman” movie.

This will mark Wan’s latest vacation from the horror genre, where he made a name for himself on the “Saw” movies, as well as “Insidious” and “The Conjuring”.

Jason Momoa will play the sea-loving superhero in the 2018 blockbuster, a role he makes his debt in in next year’s “Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice”.

Wan will oversee the script by Kurt Johnstad.

“The Aquaman film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James’s span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material,” said Warner Bros’ Greg Silverman in an announcement.

With Universal gearing up to do “Furious 8” in the near future, question now is whether Wan will be able to return to direct it, too?
