Joel Edgerton Passes on 300: Battle Of Artemisium

If you were holding your breath in hopes of Joel Edgerton being shirtless throughout the whole filming of the upcoming “300” sequel you’re out of luck because Variety’s Jeff Sneider has revealed through his Twitter that Edgerton has passed on the role.

Edgerton, who was last seen in the prequel to “The Thing” just last month, is currently in Australia filming Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby”. News of Edgerton possibly starring in the “300” sequel began earlier this month when Vulture originally reported the news. Had he accepted the role, Edgerton would’ve played Themosticles, the famed archon and general who led the Greeks to victory against the invading Persians in 480 BCE.

Edgerton sure is making one hell of a name for himself in Hollywood. After also starring opposite Tom Hardy in “Warrior”, his next films include “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” and is rumored to star in “The Man from U.N.C.L.E”.
