Joel Edgerton reuniting with Star Wars‘ Natalie Portman for Western

Downunder workaholic Joel Edgerton (“Zero Dark Thirty”, The Great Gatsby”) is in talks to join Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender in the Western “Jane Got A Gun”.

Deadline, who broke the news on Edgerton’s foray into the wild west, say :

The pic centers on Jane Hammond (Portman), who reaches out to her ex-lover (Fassbender) to help her when her outlaw husband becomes the target of a violent gang. Edgerton would play John Bishop, the leader of the gang coming to kill Hammond’s husband.

The more film-savvy among us will recall Edgerton and Portman sharing a credit block on another film – well two, “Star Wars Episode II : Attack of the Clones” and “Star Wars Episode III : Revenge of the Sith” (not that Edgerton would remember, he barely had any screentime as ‘Uncle Owen’).

Most people involved in the flick, including director Lynne Ramsey (“We Need to Talk About Kevin”), are western virgins so it’ll be interesting to see how they take to steers and saloons.
