John’s Circle of Life to be a film?

The life and career of the legendary Elton John will be explored in a new big screen venture to be written by Lee Hall (“Billy Elliot”), according to The National Post (via Dark Horizons).

The “I’m Still Standing” singer envisions the film being not so much a lengthy ‘Say no to Drugs’ commercial (which it could be, considering the stuff John has said to have put up his nose over the years) as it will be “a fantasy, Moulin Rouge type of stuff,” John told BBC Radio. “Obviously, it’s not going to be your normal, run-of-the-mill film. My life’s been so surreal, from buying a football club to God knows what.”

With a new baby, an impending marriage (to David Furnish), and the accomplishment of now being twenty years sober, John says he’s a lot happier these days than, well, back in the ‘Yellow Brick Road’ era.

“When I come offstage now I have a balance in my life. Until I found that in 1990, I came offstage and I didn’t know what to do with myself,” he said. “Now I fly home every night after a show and I get back in my own bed. I have a wonderful partner in David, I have wonderful friends. I can remember things. I don’t take drugs anymore.”
