Joseph Gordon-Levitt may be in line to play Edward Snowden in director Oliver Stone’s “The Snowden Files”.
Variety reports that Stone has offered Gordon-Levitt the part and that negotiations are likely to soon get underway, with both parties keen to proceed.
Stone acquired the rights to “Time of the Octopus”, a book by Snowden’s lawyer Anatoly Kucherena which follows Snowden’s life after the former US intelligence agent infamously leaked several classified NSA documents. He has been on the run ever since.
Stone is writing his own script and is producing with Eric Kopeloff and Moritz Borman.
Should the deal go ahead, Variety reports that production would kick off at the end of this year or the start of 2015.
