Juliette Binoche is Nobel Proze winner Pearl

Juliette Binoche has nabbed the lead role in a biopic about the life of Nobel Prize winner Pearl S. Buck.

Leehom Wang and Jing Tian have also joined the cast with Roxanne Messina Captor set to direct when production kicks off next year in Zhejiang Province, Shanghai and Prague.

Buck spent most of her life in China, first as a missionary before she began writing to support her mentally challenged daughter in a special school. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 1931 for her novel “The Good Earth” and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1938.

According to Variety, “the story will take place following the Nanking Incident in 1927, which launched the struggle known as the “Ten Years Civil War” between Communists and Nationalists.”
