Jurassic World 2 finds director

Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona during the annual Goya film awards in Madrid, Spain, Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014.

J.A. Bayona (“The Impossible”) has become attached to helm Universal’s “Jurassic World” sequel.

While it had been previously rumoured that Bayona was in the mix for the job, his commitments with “World War Z 2” made it unlikely that he would come on board the film. Now, however, the director is no longer attached to the zombie sequel, and Universal has confirmed his involvement in “Jurassic World 2”.

Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly are writing the script with stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard both set to return to reprise their roles for the film.

Frank Marshall and Steven Spielberg will produce “Jurassic World 2” which will release on June 22, 2018.
