Kevin Costner Exits Django Unchained

Welp, so much for that idea. Variety’s Justin Kroll has revealed that Kevin Costner has dropped out of Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained” due to scheduling conflicts.

Costner was poised to play the villainous role of Ace Woody, a henchman of Candie’s who trains male slaves to fight for the public’s amusement. While it would’ve been cool to see Costner with such a cast, it’s not a total loss. Costner recently played Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” reboot so there’s that at least.

“Django Unchained” follows Jamie Foxx as Django, a freed American slave who teams with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) to save his wife from Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), an evil plantation owner.

“Django Unchained” starts production this November in New Orleans and is slated for a December 25th, 2012 release.

Recent additions to “Django” include Samuel L. Jackson and Gerald McRaney.
