Kon-Tiki directors helming next Pirates of the Caribbean

Rumoured candidates Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, directors of “Kon-Tiki”, have won the “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” directing gig.

Johnny Depp and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have “signed off on the choice”, according to Deadline, who had previously reported that Rupert Sanders (“Snow White & The Huntsman”) and Fredrik Bond (“The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman”) were also in the running.

The duo look to get filming on the fifth “Pirates” by end of this year or in early January.
