Lin-Manuel Miranda in talks to join Emily Blunt in Mary Poppins

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of “Hamilton”, is in talks to play Jack in Disney’s “Mary Poppins” sequel.

According to Variety, Jack is “a lamplighter resembling the character of Bert”, who was originally played by Dick Van Dyke in the 1964 classic.

Emily Blunt is in talks to star in the film from director Rob Marshall.

The movie will be set 20 years after the events of the original film and is described as a live-action musical is set in Depression-era London which revolves around a now-grown Michael Banks, who has children of his own. In tough times, big sister Jane returns and soon after, their beloved Mary Poppins comes back to help.

Marshall, Marc Platt and John DeLuca are producing the film which will get a script from scribe David Magee.
