Lin may direct Fast & Furious 8

Justin Lin may return to the “Fast & Furious” franchise to direct it’s final installment.

Lin, who helmed each instalment of the franchise from “Fast & Furious : Tokyo Drift” onwards, had to bail on directing the latest installment (“Furious 7”) due to other commitments. James Wan stepped in.

According to Deadline, Lin might now be free to direct the eighth and possibly last installment in the series. The filmmaker was originally due to direct a sequel to “The Bourne Legacy”, with Jeremy Renner, but Universal has now delayed that film in favour of a Matt Damon-starring “Bourne” sequel which Paul Greengrass will direct.

The film would fall under a new multi-picture deal Lin is looking to make with Universal, says the trade.
