Update! : It didn’t work out. The Hollywood Reporter says that though McKay took meetings, he has passed on directing “Ant-Man”.

Adam McKay, best known for helming Will Ferrell comedies “Anchorman” and “Step Brothers”, is in final talks to direct “Ant-Man”, says Aint it Cool.
The filmmaker steps in for Edgar Wright, who departed the picture last week.
McKay, who worked with “Ant-Man” star Paul Rudd on the two “Anchorman” movies, likely would’ve got the gig because of that existing relationship with the film’s lead.
Ruben Fleischer and Rawson Marshall Thurber were also rumoured to be up for the gig.
