Lundgren returning for Universal Soldier 3?

And debunks those “Rocky Balboa” rumours

No doubt keen to get his mug on a bus-shelter day bill again, Dolph Lundgren, the video superstar with the plump I.Q, tells DVD Verdict that he may be bringing his “Universal Soldier” villain, Andrew Scott, back for a new film.

“I’m thinking of revitalizing my old character from Universal Soldier”, says the actor, whose character in the 1992 film, a war vet who’s resurrected as a reanimated super-soldier, was consequently killed at the end of the movie. “It’s fun to play a villain because you can have more fun. As a hero you have to be more neutral, because the audience accesses the movie through the hero, so he can’t be too crazy”.

Jean Claude Van Damme starred in a sequel called “Universal Soldier : The Return”. If this one comes to fruition, it’d be the second sequel to the 1992 action hit.

One sequel Lundgren won’t be in though is “Rocky 6”. “He’s [Drago] still up in the Siberian gulag I think. Actually, I’m working on another Russian-themed project, and I’ve been thinking back about the Ivan Drago character a little bit”.

One of Lundgren’s next films is a remake of the Harvey Keitel film, “L’Inchiesta”.

The movie, retitled “The Inquiry”, marks quite a departure for Lundgren. Set three years after the death of Christ, it’s anything but a shoot ‘em up.

The film, set after the Crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth, fixes on rumours that a prophet has risen from the dead – in turn, inciting the people to rebel against their Roman rulers. In an effort to control the unrest, the Roman Emperor Tiberius sends Taurus, a loyal Roman official, to Judea to find Jesus or his missing body and disprove the story.
