Mark Wahlberg to join CBS Films’ Boston Marathon project

CBS Films is going up against 20th Century Fox in the race to release a film about the Boston Marathon
bombing of 2013.

Deadline reports CBS is developing “Patriots’ Day” with Mark Wahlberg likely to star as Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.

The film will follow Davis’ firsthand account of the events with research by “60 Minutes”.

Matt Charman is writing the script with Scott Stuber, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Michael Radutzky and Wahlberg set to produce. Nicholas Nesbitt is exec producer.

For those who aren’t across Fox’s Boston marathon project, the film, titled “Boston Strong”, will be directed by Daniel Espinosa with Casey Affleck starring. It’s based on the book by Casey Sherman and Boston Herald reporter Dave Wedge.
