Mark Wahlberg’s “The Gambler” will bow in a prime spot for Oscar consideration.
Paramount has dated the pic for limited release on December 19. It will expand on January 1.
Rupert Wyatt helms the pic from a William Monahan screenplay with Jessica Lange, Michael K. Williams and Brie Larson also starring.
“The Gambler” is a remake of James Cann’s 1974 original. The film followed a college professor with a gambling addiction that gets way out of hand.
Irwin Winkler, Robert Chartoff, Stephen Levinson and David Winkler are producing the new adaptation.
