McGregor in Noyce’s American Pastoral

Ewan McGregor is set to team up with director Phillip Noyce to bring Phillip Roth’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “American Pastoral” to the big screen.

McGregor will star in the drama which centres on Seymour “Swede” Levov, a man who leads a seemingly perfect life; legendary high school athlete who marries a former beauty queen and inherits his father’s business.

However Levov’s life falls apart when his daughter commits a deadly act of political terrorism during the Vietnam War.

Filming is due to kick off in March in Pittsburgh, Pa. The film will be based on an adapted screenplay by “The Lincoln Lawyer” scribe John Romano.

“American Pastoral” is the first in a trilogy by Roth. The book is followed by “I Married a Communist” and “Human Stain”.

Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi of Lakeshore Entertainment will produce.
