McKean, Willard & Begley join Guest & Piddock’s HBO series

Fred Willard, Michael McKean and Ed Begley Jr, all regulars in Christopher Guest’s terrific line of feature films, will appear in Guest and Jim Piddock’s new HBO series “Family Tree”.

The show, co-created by Guest and Piddock (“The Tooth Fairy”), stars Chris O’Dowd as a man who “after losing his job and his girlfriend, begins exploring his family heritage after inheriting a mysterious box from a great aunt he never met. Unsure of his identity, he uncovers a world of unusual stories and characters — as well as a growing sense of who he and his real family are.”

The Hollywood Reporter says “Begley will play Tom’s Uncle Andy; Willard will play Andy’s neighbor, Mike; and McKean will play Tom’s father, Keith. Lake will play a friend of Tom’s cousin.”

Piddock, who also acts in most of Guest’s films, will also have an on-camera role we can confirm.
