“Love and Other Drugs” helmer Ed Zwick – who has postponed his long-planned “The Great Wall” for the moment – will direct Tobey Maguire as genius chess champ Bobby Fischer in “Pawn Sacrifice”. Maguire will also produce.
Parental Supervision for “About Last Night..” redo
Joy Bryant (“Parenthood”) will play the female lead in “Sexual Perversity in Chicago”, a remake of ’80s fave “About Last Night…” set up with Screen Gems. Demi Moore played the role in the 1986 version.
Roskam has eye of “The Tiger”
Michael R.Roskam, an Oscar nominee last year for his foreign language entry “Bullhead”, will direct Focus Features’ “The Tiger”, a “fact-based story that takes place on the Siberian plain, where humans encroach on a tiger’s habitat with tragic results.” Brad Pitt produces, but no word on whether he’ll play the lead male character.

Fanning swims to “Ocean”
“Super 8” star Elle Fanning will star in the feature film adaptation of the book “Olive’s Ocean”, about “a teen who goes on a summer of soul searching after discovering that a classmate who recently died in a tragic accident had secretly hoped to become her friend.”
Webb finds his “Boy in New York”
“Amazing Spider-Man” director Marc Webb will direct [one-time ‘Spider-Man’ contender] Logan Lerman in “The Only Living Boy In New York”. Written by Allen Loeb (“Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”), the indy “is a twisted coming-of-age tale in which a young man (Lerman) learns that his overbearing father is having an affair. The son tries to stop it, only to become involved with the woman as well. With advice from a questionable quirky neighbor, the young man learns about love.”
Dillon and Dafoe share “Whiskey”
Matt Dillon (“Imogene”) and Willem Dafoe (“John Carter”) will star in the indie cop drama “Whiskey Bay”, about “a veteran cop who busts estranged white supremacist and ex-con, Jesse Wheeler.” Dafoe plays the cop, Dillon the con.

Warner Bros Home Entertainment and WWE studios are teaming up on a new animated “Scooby Doo” film that’ll see the Mystery Inc gang solving a mystery at Wrestlemania. The movie will feature the voices of wrestling superstars, including John Cena and Triple H.

That Ol’ Chestnut!
“Boyz N’The Hood” alum Morris Chestnut has booked “The Hive”, co-starring Halle Berry, and “Kick-Ass 2”, in which he’ll play the guardian of Chloe Moretz’s Hit-Girl. Speaking of the Jeff Wadlow-directed sequel, Robert Emms has also joined the cast; Emms is playing the character Insect Man.

Chase’s latest to open festival
The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today that David Chase’s “Not Fade Away” will make its World Premiere on Saturday, October 6 as the Centerpiece Gala selection for the 50th New York Film Festival (September 28-October 14). Making his feature directing debut, David Chase’s (The Sopranos) coming-of-age movie is set in New Jersey in 1964 where a group of friends are inspired to form their own rock band fronted by a gifted singer-songwriter (terrific newcomer John Magaro). The film masterfully captures the era’s conflicting attitudes and ideologies, all set to a dynamic soundtrack produced by the legendary Steven Van Zandt. The film also stars Jack Huston, Will Brill, Bella Heathcote, James Gandolfini, Brad Garrett and Christopher McDonald. To be released by Paramount Vantage, the film’s roll-out will begin on December 21, 2012.
