It mightn’t have done much at the box office, but “Dark Shadows” seems to have reinvigorated Michelle Pfeiffer’s career. Whether it’s because people were reminded of just how wonderful an actress she is, or producers were bowled over by just how good she looks for a woman her age, or a combination of both, the former Catwoman seems to be in-demand again.
According to Variety, Pfeiffer is being courted for gangster comedy “Malavita”. The film would reunite the beautiful thesp with Robert De Niro, her co-star in “New Years Eve” and “Stardust”.
The film, produced and written by Luc Besson (“Lockout”, “Taken”), is based on a book called “Badfellas”.

Under cover of darkness, an American family moves into a villa in Cholong-sur-Avre in Normandy. Fred Blake, the father, tells everyone he is there to write a history of the Allied landings. His wife Maggie gets involved in a local charity; their teenage children enrol in the lycee. At first glance a family like any other. But Fred’s real name is Giovanni Manzoni – an ex-Mafia boss who has grassed and is now part of the FBI’s witness-protection program. And his record in other locations would indicate that his cover is not likely to last very long.
Both De Niro and Pfeiffer are no strangers to gangster spoofs, he having done the “Analyze This” films and she having co-starred in Jonathan Demme’s seminal crime farce “Married to the Mob”.
